EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR CHAMBER MUSIC TUTORIAL PROGRAM
Wednesday, 17 March 2010
Expressions of interest are now being taken for a Chamber Music Tutorial Program, consisting of 2-3 small groups. The focus of these groups would not necessarily be on the performance, but on the process of learning and working on a piece of music with a dedicated professional tutor.

This is an opportunity for musicians in EMS who would not otherwise have the opportunity to work in smaller groups (i.e. string quartet, piano trio, wind quintet etc.). It would be expected that each group would be able to play their chosen repertoire before the group session stage. There is also the potential for a chamber concert depending on number of groups.

Chamber groups interested can apply to committee with proposed pieces, at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

After much discussion, another item has been added to the diverse and ever expanding range of EMS merchandise... BOTTLE OPENERS!!

They are strong and sturdy, and are adequately sufficient at the difficult task of opening a nice cold bottle of beer (home-brewed, of course!).

At the very low price of $7, get yours from the office or an EMS event today!!!

Room D207 is on level 2 of D Block of Engineering (building 176, map ref K18). Enter via the stairs/lifts between C and D blocks (from north side of building only), or via stairs/lifts between D and E blocks and then through the Boat Room (room D204).

Info For Prospective Members

Welcome to the website of the Engineering Music Society!

EMS provides a sociable environment for people who want to continue to play their instrument in an ensemble after finishing school. Students from ALL FACULTIES are welcome, and EMS has a policy of no auditions.

The club currently supports an orchestra, concert band, two stage bands and a choir. All ensembles rehearse weekly for a couple of hours in the evening. At the end of each semester we hold public concerts and also play at functions such as Discovery Day and Engineering Deans Honours.

Apart from music, the club has a strong social aspect to it. There are trips to the pub after every rehearsal, "beer and freddos" nights, BBQs, and a camp each semester.

To join EMS simply turn up to a rehearsal. Check out the How to Join section of the website for rehearsal days and times.
